The First Wave is the much better book, having a narrative arc and some sense of perspective. Kershaw colors within the lines and delivers a not unreasonably balanced recap.

Caddick-Adams's book (which I've also reviewed) seems unusually promiscuous in raking in odd content without much overall perspective/5().

The First Wave is an awe-inspiring and important book that portrays the blood on the risers, from Captain Frank Lillyman’s airborne pathfinders to Lieutenant George Kerchner’s First wave book and their remarkable assault on the cliffs of Pointe Du Hoc.

Kershaw (Avenue of Spies: A True Story of Terror, Espionage, and One American Family’s Heroic Resistance in Nazi-Occupied Paris, etc.) returns to the scene of his book The Bedford Boys: the Normandy beaches that saw the Allied invasion on D-Day.

The First Wave is the second book in the Billy Boyle series set in World War Two. Boyle is a former Boston cop and a nephew of General Eisenhower, on whose staff he serves as an investigator. In this outing he is selected to run a mission to persuade French Vichy troops in Algeria to surrender rather than fight landing American troops/5.

First Wave, Volume Complete Set by JT Sawyer First Wave, Volume Complete Set by JT Sawyer: First Wave, The Longest Day, No Place to Hide is a riveting action-packed group of books. I gave it four stars.
